200 eneo PTZ domes in the city surveillance system contribute to the security of the Hungarian capital city.
Cosmopolitan and glamorous, this is how Budapest unveils itself to visitors. The city on the Danube, fondly called the “Pearl on the Danube” by locals and foreign admirers alike, is the largest city in Hungary and the eighth largest city in the European Union with 1.7 million inhabitants. It has a special flair, made up in part by its vibrant cultural life, but also by the magnificent art nouveau architecture, above all the imposing public baths and elegant coffee houses that create an individual atmosphere in which the boundary between past and present seems to dissolve and which draws millions of visitors year after year.
Security for citizens and tourists
Although: no romanticism without sobering reality. Just as in other major European cities, security issues are taken very seriously in the Hungarian capital. In addition to prevention of crime and vandalism, the subject of counter terrorism has become more important in recent years. The municipality has therefore decided upon video surveillance coverage of all zones categorised as being extremely critical or vulnerable in security terms. Video security cameras have been installed in several districts, particularly in the vicinity of famous sightseeing attractions such as the Heroes’ Square.

The project was awarded to Erando. Founded in 1995, the company has built up extensive know-how and specialises in the planning and installation of video security systems. In order to provide optimum service to its customers, Erando uses only products from manufacturers that comply with the highest quality standards. Consequently, 200 PTZ domes from eneo’s Fastrax series have been installed in the Hungarian capital’s networked video security system. The cameras are integrated in an Indigo Vision video surveillance solution that transmits data to the police security centre. Transmission is over a radio network as the zones covered by video surveillance are spread throughout the entire city area. Bálint Szabó, the responsible Erando engineer, is satisfied with the results: “The cameras deliver outstanding imagery and interact harmonically with the Indigo Vision solution. All in all, eneo has again impressed with its exceptional cost-effectiveness.”
